February 11, 2010 now enters the list of the most tragic dates in the history of fashion and modern art. This is the day of the untimely death of one of the most influential and talented fashion designers Alexander McQueen.
It is reported that 40-year-old McQueen maintained warm relations with his mother, Joyce, whose recent death he took extremely hard. He was found hanged at his house in the Central London just after a few days after her death. He left his feelings in written form on his Twitter page. The messages pointed at his extremely unstable emotional state.
The condolences have been already expressed by the whole list of celebrities including Alexandra Shulman (British Vogue editor-in-chief), Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, Donatella Versace, Matthew Williamson, Dita Von Teese, Kelly Osbourne, Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian and many others. Meanwhile, one of the closest Alexander McQueen’s friends supermodel Kate Moss is being in deep grief so her representatives call on adequate attitude to her in these hard times.
Alexander McQueen’s fashion show that was to be held on Thursday evening in New York was cancelled, while his New York boutique was closed for a few days.
During his more than a successful career in the fashion world McQueen has won multiple awards. British Fashion Council has awarded him as the Designer of the Year for four times while in 2003 Queen Elizabeth gave him an honorary title of Commander of the British Empire.
Alexander McQueen will be remembered as one of the most creative avant-garde representatives of his profession.
